AMSHA Foundation
10th Anniversary
THUS FAR THE LORD HAS HELPED US, 1Sam. 7:12
Who we are
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to developing leaders in African by providing post-secondary and university scholarships for African students.
Who we help
Our heart is for African Christian students, who seek to rise above their current conditions to serve their communities.
To date we have helped 20 students, 9 of whom have graduated and 7 who are currently being supported. Though our dream is to support students across Africa, today we are only able to support students in Kenya.
How you can help
Pray – Join us in praying for our students, for their studies, and strength through challenging situations. We also ask that you pray for the Lord’s provision so that we may continue support these students, in addition to the students who are on our wait list. Lastly, pray for the right people to partner with us on the board, and for a successor for Mary.
Donate – We offer several options for one-time and monthly donations on our website https://amshafoundation.org/donate.
Purchase Books - Proceeds from sales on Mary’s and Humphrey’s books also go towards supporting students. You can find a list of Mary’s books at My Legacy <https://marynmuchiri.com>, and there are links on the website to purchased them from Amazon. Humphry’s books are found at <https://www.humphreymuciiri.com>.
Tuition in Kenya can range from Ksh 32,000 – 160,000/yr, which approximates to between $246 to $1,231 per year. This means that every dollar can have a much greater impact for these students when compared to tuition in the US which can range from $11,000/yr for in-state public universities to $45,000/yr for some private institutions.
“Let us not become weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9.
A Decade of Empowerment: The Inspiring Journey of AMSHA Foundation
This year AMSHA Foundation celebrates 10 years of dedicated service to empowering Christian students in Kenya through education. As we celebrate this decade of impact, we reflect on the foundation’s origins, vision, mission, and the inspiring stories that have shaped our path.
The Beginning - The story begins in 2005, when Mary started the “Josephine Wambui Kimori Scholarship Fund” following the passing of Mary’s mother. Her legacy of faith and passion for education, especially for girls, laid the groundwork for what would become a beacon of hope for many students.

In 2016, AMSHA Foundation incorporated as a 501(c)(3) Domestic Nonprofit Corporation in Indiana to expand our reach. Since then, the foundation has focused on supporting financially challenged Christian students pursuing post-secondary and university education, primarily from Kenya.
Vision That Guides Every Step - AMSHA Foundation envisions a future where Christian leaders, equipped with education and faith, rise up to serve Africa. We believe that education is a powerful tool for developing leaders who will contribute positively to their communities and beyond.
Mission Focused on Real Impact - AMSHA is to empower financially challenged Christian students, by helping to fund their education at the post-secondary and university levels opening doors to opportunities that transform lives and communities. Over the past decade, AMSHA has helped numerous students overcome financial barriers and pursue their dreams.
Inspiration Drawn from Faith - The foundation’s inspiration comes from the biblical story of the feeding of the five thousand (Mark 6:41-44). Just as Jesus multiplied the boy’s small lunch to feed thousands, AMSHA has witnessed how small contributions multiply to meet the needs of many students.
Mrs. Josephine Wambui Kimori’s life exemplified this faith. Born in 1918, she lived through Kenya’s War of Independence and demonstrated remarkable courage and prayerful trust. Her faith saved six lives when their grass-thatched home was set on fire during the conflict. This legacy of faith and resilience continues to inspire AMSHA’s work today.
Stories of Transformation - Over the years, AMSHA Foundation has supported many students who have gone on to become leaders in their fields. For example, one scholarship recipient graduated with a degree in education and now teaches in a rural Kenyan school, inspiring the next generation. Another student pursued nursing and is serving in underserved communities, providing critical healthcare.
These stories highlight the foundation’s impact beyond financial aid. AMSHA builds a community of faith-driven leaders who give back to society, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
Looking Ahead: The Next Ten Years - As we look ahead, we hope to expand our scholarship programs, increase partnerships with educational institutions, and enhance mentorship opportunities for students especially post-education.
AMSHA Foundation’s journey over the past decade shows how faith and education can transform lives. We remain committed to its core values of faith, education, and service. By nurturing future leaders, AMSHA aims to contribute to a brighter future for Kenya and Africa as a whole. We invite you to join in the next chapter of empowering Christian students to lead and serve.
