Initially named the “Josephine Wambui Kimori Scholarship Fund,” the organization was created to honor her commitment to Christ and her belief in the power of education.

In 2016, AMSHA Foundation was officially incorporated as a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation in Indiana, gaining 501(c)(3) status. This legal step allowed AMSHA to collect public donations and expand its reach. Since then, the foundation has focused on supporting financially challenged Christian students pursuing post-secondary and university education, primarily from Kenya.
